According to the news of the Second Academy of Aerospace Science and Industry of China on the 19th, recently, the Second Academy completed the first real-time wireless transmission communication experiment of terahertz orbital angular momentum in Beijing in China, using high-precision spiral phase plate antennas to achieve 4 different beam modes in the 110GHz frequency band, and completing 100Gbps wireless real-time transmission on the transmission bandwidth of 10GHz through 4-mode synthesis, maximizing bandwidth utilization and providing important guarantee and support for the development of wireless backhaul technology of China's 6G base stations.
5G/6G base station wireless backhaul technology is the key technology to connect base stations and core network equipment in mobile backhaul networks. With the continuous increase of communication rate demand, mobile communication frequency bands are extended to millimeter wave and higher terahertz bands, signal transmission losses are greatly increased, and the deployment density of base stations will increase exponentially. In the era of "highly densified" 5G/6G communication of base stations, traditional fiber-based bearer network transmission will face problems such as high cost, long deployment cycle, and poor flexibility, and wireless backhaul of 5G/6G base station technology will gradually dominate. According to the research report, the proportion of global base stations using 5G/6G base station wireless backhaul will be as high as 62% in 2023.
It is understood that terahertz communication, as a new spectrum technology, can provide greater transmission bandwidth to meet the transmission needs of higher speeds, and has gradually become one of the key technologies of 6G communication. In the future, the peak rate of 6G communication will reach 1Tbps, and it is necessary to further improve the utilization rate under the existing spectrum resources to achieve higher wireless transmission capabilities.
